Job Title: Bricklayers
Bricklayers lay bricks, concrete blocks, stones and similar materials to construct walls and other structures.

Duties: Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, structural tiles and similar materials to construct or repair walls, foundations and other structures in residential, industrial and commercial construction projects. Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces. Lay bricks, stone or similar material to provide veneer facing to walls or other surfaces. Use small machines and hand tools to cut and trim bricks and stone to size.

Wages: $20 +. Variations depend on skills and experience. Annual income is approximately $50,000 to $60,000. Average 40 working hours per week. (Weekly hours may vary depending on climate, unions, and preparation of job sites)

Hospital and Medical Care Insurance: OHIP (after 3 months of starting work).

Others:

Spouses may apply for a work permit which is ‘open’ and will allow them to accept any job depending on whether or not a medical exam was taken. (except Construction Laborers’ spouses)

Temporary foreign workers are eligible for the same benefits and rights as Ontario workers.

Transportation to the work place will be provided by the employer.
